The presence of abundant proteins in human serum and plasma often masks the detection of low-abundant proteins of interest that serve as biomarkers for disease when being studied by 2D gel electrophoresis or LC/MS. After depletion of these high-abundant proteins, serum samples consist of an enriched pool of low-abundant proteins that can be further studied without significant interferences with abundant proteins.
bio-WORLD’s Abundant Protein Removal-Transferrin kit removes the high-abundant protein transferrin, from human serum and plasma. The high affinity-based column contains Separopore®-matrix coupled with antibodies against this serum protein. The transferrin specific resin provides a binding capacity of 2 mg abundant protein per column.
The remarkable selectivity provided by the resin results in very low background binding of other serum proteins. Sample volumes from 20-60µl can be processed per ml of resin without any loss of selectivity.
