Glyphosate, N-(phosphenomethyl) glycine interferes with the synthesis of the aromatic amino acids phenylalanine, tyrosine and tryptophan. It inhibits the enzyme 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS), which catalyzes the reaction of shikimate-3-phosphate (S3P) and phosphoenolpyruvate to form 5-enolpyruvyl-shikimate-3-phosphate (ESP).
BioWold provides glyphosate [N-(phosphenomethyl) glycine ammonium salt] formulated for screening og transgenic plants expressinh glyphosate resistant EPSP synthase gene.
Synonym: N-(Phosphonomethyl)glycine
Inhibits the shikimate pathway during biosynthesis of the aromatic amino acids, resulting in accumulation of shikimate and cell death
Active ingredient in Roundup™also known as BASTA™
Plant cell culture tested
Appearance: white to off-white powder
Melting Point: 230°C
Soluble in water
Irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin; harmful if swallowed.
