Corning brand organic chemistry kits utilize ground glass joints throughout, which enables most of the standard laboratory assemblies to be constructed with ease and efficiency. They are particularly useful in teaching and research establishments where assembly time is at a premium.
The component parts of the kits are interchangeable with other PYREX® brand apparatus which have the same joint size.
The basic kit is supplied complete with drawer-size polyethylene case in which components are mounted in foam. The kit's versatility enables many standard laboratory operations to be performed, such as: distillation, reaction with gas evolution, preparation or recovery, simple reflux, reflux with addition, fractional distillation and vacuum distillation.
Similar to the basic kit as many of the same standard laboratory experiments can be performed. It includes a distillation column and bleed tube for steam distillation or gas flow reactions.
The overall case size for either kit is approximately 130 mm x 256 mm x 343 mm. Components are separated by a urethane foam liner, which greatly simplifies checking the equipment and provides safe storage.
