For quick and easy proof press testing of stocks and inks
Test for print quality, gloss, holdout, drying time, varnishability, rub or fade resistance, etc.
The plates consist of precision grooves which are inked with a hand-drawn scraper. This method allows the ink film to be laid down and cleaned up quickly; the thickness of the ink film to be controlled at known levels and the variables of roller distribution to be eliminated. Plates can be designed to produce either a variable or uniform film thickness. The variable model produces a continuous range of film thickness in a single impression. The uniform thickness models are used to test for a large print area while multi-path uniform models allow several different levels of uniform film thickness to be proofed simultaneously.
All models have paths cal. 0.918" high, parallel to bottom face. Graduated path plates are available.
NOTE: Calibrated models listed are based on 80% fillage for normal, letterpress inks. Fillage or thinner inks is less.
NOTE: Each path has a uniform thickness, but the thickness is different in each path. Any other combination may be specially ordered.
