Seligson Pipets
3-way stopcock tip calibrated to contain
Rapidly portion a fixed volume of liquid without adjustment to a reference mark
Applicable to any type of analysis in which a standard volume is diluted or reacted directly with a measured volume of a second liquid
Self-rinsing, permitting use without washing between successive samples
Upright arm above stopcock is for attachment to diluent reservoir such as buret or syringe; bent arm is for connection to aspirator or small vacuum pump
Stem length 100 mm. Teflon® stopcock plug, washer and knurled nut are included which ensure secure seating. Technique is suited to photometric determinations in which measurements must be made immediately upon addition of reagent, as the sample delivery and addition of solution are accomplished in one operation. Tolerances: 0.5 mL pipet, ±0.01 mL; 1.0 mL pipet, ±0.05 mL. Devised by Dr. David Seligson of the Graduate Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, the pipets have been applied to more than twenty-five clinical chemistry procedures. See American Journal of Clinical Pathology, Vol. 28, No. 2, pp. 200-207 and Technical Bulletin of the Registry of Medical Technologists, Vol. 27, No. 7, pp. 152-159.
