P >PIPETTORS, TIPS
 THOMAS PIPETTOR TIP INTRO
A tip for every handling need... at an excellent price

 • Beveled points for reduced fluid retention

 • Wide sealing zone to ensure a good seal

 • High-quality hinged racks require only one hand to open

 • Guaranteed sterility with a validated medical process

 • Virgin non-cytoxic polymers

 • Robotically manufactured to preclude contamination

 • Lot certified free of nuclease, endotoxins and metals

Thomas pipet tips are precision molded from medical grade virgin polypropylene and are designed to fit securely onto many popular pipettors. All are certified to be free of RNase, DNase and endotoxins and can be autoclaved at 122°C for 15 minutes at 15 psi. We offer the following popular tip styles:

General Purpose

GENERAL PURPOSE (Universal Tips): Contrary to what the name implies, one universally-sized tip hardly ever fits all pipettors. Most often, customers request "small" or "large" universal tips that will fit their 1-200 µL or 200-1,000 µL single or multi-channel pipettors. We offer tips that fit a variety of micro to macro volumes (0.1 µL to 10 mL). For pipettor compatibility with a chosen tip, please refer to the pipet tip selection charts that accompany each listing.

Aerosol Filter Tips

AEROSOL FILTER TIPS prevent pipettor contamination and sample carry-over. Recommended for sensitive PCR work where contamination can be detrimental to assay results. In addition to pipetting DNA or RNA solutions, filter tips are also recommended for pipetting hazardous solutions containing infectious agents or radioactive substances like P32. Our robotically inserted polyethylene filters have 10 µm tortuous path channels to block aerosols and contaminants without absorbing an overdrawn sample. They are fully autoclavable and lot-tested for extractables, endotoxins and nucleases to ensure accurate delivery of untainted samples. They are not self-sealing, which ensures complete sample recovery should there be contact with the aerosol filter.

Graduated Filter Tips

GRADUATED TIPS provide visual reference marks when sample liquid volumes are critical and you want at-a-glance quantitative volume feedback.

Siliconized Tips

SILCONIZED TIPS minimize liquid retention of viscous or proteinaceous samples.

Extended Micro Tips

EXTENDED MICRO TIPS provide easier access to deeper and narrower wells found on 384-well plates and are available with filters.

Gel Loader Tips

GEL LOADER TIPS are slender and fine-tipped for critical work, such as careful addition of samples to electrophoresis gel wells. We offer the traditional flexible tip gel loader style as well as the new shorter length tip which is less flexible.

Other styles of pipet tips are available that may suit your application. Whether pipetting whole cells, where maintaining cell membrane integrity is a concern, or genomic samples, where preventing DNA/RNA sharing is of primary importance, we can help you select the right tip.

A tip for every liquid handling need... packaged the way you want it

Thomas pipet tips are available in a variety of packaging options including bulk bags, hinged racks with transparent lids, space-saving stack racks or individually wrapped singles. All are packaged and transported by automated equipment to guard against possible contamination and are coded for waste recycling programs.

Hinged Racks
Hinged Racks

Hinged racks allow convenient single-handed access to upright tips that are arranged in 8 x 12 or 8 x 24 (192) formats for standard size tips (1-200 µL) This format is particularly useful when working with multiwell plates and multichannel pipettors.

These also come in a 10 x 10 (100) format for larger tips (100-1000 L). The wide plate hinge and positive snap lock prevent accidental opening if dropped. Rugged enough to be refilled and reused.

All size configurations are available either sterile or non-sterile. They can be user-autoclaved if the lids are left open.

Stack Racks
Stack Racks

Consist of five or six nested racks topped by a reusable clear friction fit cover. Tips are arranged in the same format as the hinged box racks, each containing 96, 100 or 192 tips. The design saves bench space and storage space in high-volume labs where both are in short supply. The racks cut the amount of wasted plastic in half. Availability limited to certain tip models. Available sterile by special order

Bulk Bags
Bulk Bags

These bags are zip-seal resealable containing 1,000 tips. Bulk bags are economical and produce the least amount of packaging waste. Not available sterile.

Individually Wrapped
Individually Wrapped

These tips come in sterile peel-apart packets. 200 per box or 2,000 per case. Ideal for infrequent usage or where guaranteed sterility is imperative.

Sterility

Thomas sterile tips have been certified sterile using a validated medical process. We follow ISO 08-3009 procedures for sterility. Sterile products are clearly labeled and bioburden studies have been completed and are on file.

High Volume/Special Packaging Options

We offer options for laboratories that have special needs for high volume liquid handling or recycling-waste reduction programs. Automation capable, heavier duty robot-racks or permanent pipet tip reloading systems to cut waste by 90% are available. Please call for more detailed information.

A tip with quality you can depend on

A validated ISO 9001 quality-assurance system ensures repeatable and dependable performance. Every medical-grade resin lot is tested for extractables before use so it will not interfere with PCR or DNA work. Additional tests for fit, function and reproducibility are conducted on each lot against the listed pipettors. The validated sterility process keeps all bioburden studies on file.
