Developed by Dr. A.T. Palin to provide a fast, simple means of measuring chlorine in municipal waters, waste waters, and other chlorine-treated waters. DPD chlorine tablets employ DPD indicator (diethyl-p- phenylenediamine) to distinguish levels of free, combined, and total chlorine in a simple test sample. DPD chlorine tablets designated “Instrument Grade” are suitable for use with colorimeters and spectrophotometers. For more information on chlorination and measurement of chlorine, order The Chlorine Handbook (Thomas number 0535C36).
9864H10 DPD No. 1 Tablet is used to measure free available chlorine in water. Range: 0 to 10 ppm for approximately 10 mL sample size. Shelf life: approx. three years. Instrument Grade. Color standards should match manufacturer’s supplied sample tubes. See 3075F22 and F24 for appropriate chlorine standard check solutions if internal calibration curve development is desired.
9864H20 DPD No. 1R Tablet is similar to 9864H10 but contains disintegrant. Not suitable for use with colorimeters or spectrophotometers.
9864H30 DPD No. 2 Tablet is used to measure monochloramine level when added to sample after DPD No. 1/(1R) tablet. Instrument Grade.
9864H44 DPD No. 3 Tablet is used to measure dichloramine or combined chlorine. Instrument Grade. 9864H47 DPD No. 3R Tablet is similar to 9864H44, but contains disintegrant. Not suitable for use with colorimeters or spectrophotometers.
9864H50 DPD No. 4 Tablet is used to measure total residual chlorine in water. Range of 0 to 10 ppm. Instrument Grade. 9864H53 DPD No. 4R Tablet is similar to 9864H50, but contains disintegrant. Not suitable for use with colorimeters or spectrophotometers.
