Borosilicate glass filter holder assemblies for the microanalysis of liquids for biological or particulate contamination under vacuum. The Phase/Fraction Collector was designed for applications that require alliquots of filtrate to be collected or contained for further analysis such as in multiphase extraction. During the filtration process the liquid can be diverted to the receiver tube by way of the 2-way, Y bore PTFE valve. The unique design does not require venting hazardous sample or solvents to the atmosphere. With additional receiver tubes, multiple samples can be collected.
Two models available. The P/FC1 is supported on a manifold or standard 1L flask by a No.8 silicone stopper. The P/FC2 couples to a 40/35 male taper on extraction manifold or 1L flask. The anodized aluminum clamp secures the 47mm membrane between the 300mL graduated funnel and base. While the sintered glass frit support base can be used for general filtration, the 304 stainless steel screen(w/ PTFE gasket) is recommended for viscous or proteinaceous solutions to maximize flow rate and the screen ensures particles will not be shed into the filtrate. The PTFE support can filter acidic solutions at a higher flow rate.
