The CDC indicates that dry swabs of lesions should be collected and submitted in a dry tube, or specimens may be submitted in viral transport media for testing in suspected cases of monkeypox. This guide is intended to indicate COPAN products and methods commonly used for the collection and transport of monkeypox samples that are consistent with CDC guidelines.*
