Quartz wool is secured by means of a tapering above and below the wool. This ensures wool remains in the correct position to wipe the needle tip during injection. This precision placement results in RSDs (Relative Standard Deviation) of between 0.3 and 0.7% as compared to 8 to 10% with center placement.
