FreeZone 12 Liter Console Freeze Dryers with Stoppering Tray Dryers are designed for lyophilizing moderate to large loads and stoppering vials or serum bottles under vacuum. The console features a front viewing window and interior space for a vacuum pump (sold separately). They feature a brushed stainless steel and glacier white, powder-coated steel exterior, hot gas defrost, side-mounted USB port and rear-mounted Ethernet connection.
The console’s upright stainless steel collector coil is capable of holding 12 liters of ice before defrosting. Two 3/4 hp HCFC/CFC-free refrigeration systems cool the collector to -84°C (-119°F), suitable for low eutectic point samples including acetonitrile. The collector lid is 3/4" thick and has a neoprene gasket. Models with PTFE-coated collectors that can withstand corrosive compounds are available.
Lyo-Works™ OS provides a real time display of collector temperature and vacuum level on a 5" full color, capacitive touchscreen. Lyo-Works OS controls optional drying accessories providing 30 programs that can hold up to 16 segments each as well as the optional End-Zone™ end point detection system for flask freeze drying. Display includes navigation to start-up mode, vacuum set point, alerts, diagnostic tests, user manual, and defrost control. Data logging stores and displays data in table or chart format and data may be exported via USB or Ethernet. Language can be set to English, Spanish, French, German or Italian. Other settings include time, time zone, temperature (°C or °F) and vacuum (mBar, Torr or Pa). Alerts and feedback of current operating programs can be sent automatically to user-entered email addresses.
FreeZone exclusive features protect the vacuum pump from damage. A vacuum break valve bleeds air into the system when power to the freeze dryer or vacuum pump is shut off for more than 5 minutes. A moisture sensor prevents refrigeration or vacuum start-up when moisture is detected in the drain line. If the vacuum level is higher than 5 mill bar for 30 minutes the vacuum pump will automatically turn off.
The Stoppering Tray Dryers feature a brushed stainless steel and glacier white, powder-coated steel exterior, integral support stand and side-mounted power switch. They include three 16.5" x 12" adjustable shelves and temperature sensor probes to monitor sample or shelf temperature. A clear acrylic viewing door provides complete visibility of the shelves.
A single 1 hp HCFC/CFC-free refrigeration system and 1000-watt electric heater cool and heat the fluid medium circulating through channels in the shelves. The temperature may be set between -40 and +40°C. The 1/8” OD backfill port introduces inert gas into the chamber, protecting samples from atmospheric moisture and contaminants. Built-in pneumatic mechanism stoppers containers on all three shelves.
Vacuum pump with a displacement of at least 163 liters/minute and freeze dry glassware (if not bulk freeze drying) are required (not included).
