PBS, phosphate buffered saline, is an isotonic solution used in molecular biology, cell culture, protein chemistry, and biochemical applications.
PBS is nontoxic to cells and has similar osmolarity and ion concentrations of the human body. Note: pH 7.4 is most commonly used with cell culture.
This PBS is tested (USP<85>) for endotoxins, which can cause unwanted variability in results from cell culture experiments.
Contains 137 mM sodium chloride, 2.7 mM potassium chloride, 4.3 mM sodium phosphate (dibasic, anhydrous), 1.4 mM potassium phosphate (monobasic, anhydrous). pH 7.3 or pH 7.4, depending on the part number.
