Baker's yeast is of the species Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
Yeast, or Baker's yeast, is commonly used as a leavening agent in baking bread and bakery products, where it converts the sugars present in the dough into carbon dioxide and ethanol. Dried Active has been reported to asymmetrically reduce carbon carbon double bonds of nitroalkenes transforming them into intermediates used for the preparation of various biologically active compounds such as alkaloids, steroids. It can also be used to produce ethanol via fermentation.
