Infections with Legionella (legionellosis) can lead to Legionnaire’s disease, a respiratory disease that can progress to pneumonia, or Pontiac fever, characterized primarily by fever and myalgia. People at increased risk of legionellosis are those of advanced age and the immunosuppressed.1 The MGB Alert PAN Legionella primer mix ASR § amplifies, while the probe mix ASR detects, nucleic acids within the ssrA gene of Legionella spp. ASRs are multiplex compatible with MGB Alert Legionella pneumophilia ASRs.
